Team CHR pulled back into their shop’s driveway…

June 16, 2011

Last Sunday afternoon, Team CHR pulled back into their shop’s driveway after they finished one of the toughest schedules of the summer…six races in nine days leading into “Ohio Sprint Speedweek” starting tonight at Attica Raceway Park.

“We grabbed our first feature win of the season, rolled the car, broke a motor or two and ran up front the entire time,” said Cap Henry as he prepares for the team’s next intense week.  “We have proven time and again that we can run up front with the best of ‘em but we keep struggling with these crazy mechanical things…all part of good, hard racin’, I guess!”

*As we approach mid-season in Northern Ohio, all attention turns to the “Ohio Sprint Speedweek” as the top teams from the Ohio region (and beyond) will compete for the All Star’s nightly purse at 8 tracks over 9 days.  As the series criss-crosses the state beginning tonight, several of the FAST Series regulars will compete against the All Stars on their home turf three times throughout the 8 events.  The Speedweek schedule then heads to KC Raceway (6/18), Millstream Speedway (6/19), Waynesfield Motor Sports Park (6/20), Fremont Speedway (6/21), Sharon Speedway (6/22).  After a break in the action on Thursday night, the teams then head to Limaland Speedway (6/24) and conclude the week at Fremont Speedway (6/25), once again for the “$10,000 to Win” finale.  *(Courtesy of FastonDirt.com)

As Chief Mechanic FUZZ LYONS continues his recuperation, former team strategist A.J. HAVENS has filled the bill helping the team stay focused on fixing the mechanical problems while keeping Cap at the front of the field.

Following the New York-Pennsylvania swing, Cap slipped back to 5h in national points just two points out of fourth behind DAVE BLANEY, TIM SHAFFER, DAVID GRAVEL and DARYN PITTMAN…some pretty good company…!

Cap Henry Sprint Car 2011Riding the momentum started in the month of May, CAP HENRY and Team CHR are anxious to get back to the track tonight as they start one of the toughest schedules of the summer…six races in nine days leading into “SpeedWeek”…

“We are so fired up following our Top 3 finish last weekend plus some other great runs during the month,” said Cap from the hauler cruising to Lernerville.  “Even though we had some frustrating mechanical problems, our team is very focused because we dropped out while running at the front of the field…a little good luck and we are right there!”

The team had a mild set back as Chief Mechanic FUZZ LYONS is battling some health issues and is taking a few weeks to get back to speed.  Stepping back in is former team strategist A.J. HAVENS, reuniting with the team for the first time since mid-season last year.

The first leg of the tour will take the team to Mercer, PA (Friday and Saturday night) and then on to Clinton County Raceway in Mackeyville, PA Sunday night.  After a couple of days to catch their breath, a midweek show at Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY followed by a return to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA and a Sunday race at Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY.

After battling with the Pennsylvania Posse and the O’Reilly All Stars, the team will take advantage of a 4-day break while re-grouping to prepare for SpeedWeek…one of the most intense weeks of racing for winged sprinters.

Starting the month of June, Cap sits 4th in national points behind DAVE BLANEY, TIM SHAFFER and DAVID GRAVEL…some pretty good company…!
