Last weekend, Cap Henry and Team CHR tested….
February 24, 2012
Last weekend, Cap Henry and Team CHR tested their metal against the World of Outlaws at Volusia. Regardless of their finishes all three nights, the team felt as though they had accomplished what they set out to do: “run as hard as you can against the best winged sprinters in the land and just survive doing it!”
Putting the race car back on the hauler in one piece after three nights of battle was even more huge! Cap learned a ton and is learning “the book” on the Outlaws best.
“Every time on the track with these guys, we learn who we can race with and just how good they are,” he said. “I definitely have more confidence running against the Outlaws and am looking forward to keeping that level this weekend with the All-Stars.”
Now that the Outlaws schedule has started, the team can concentrate on picking off the All-Star regulars as the 25+ cars at Bubba Raceway Park this weekend will start to focus on points and top finishes every “A” Main.
“Some fans don’t realize that the Outlaws use us (the All Stars) to prep for their season,” said team owner Kit Henry. “We don’t have that luxury as our budget only allows us to race hard each night with what we know….and we learn by racing flat out each night!”
After this weekend’s trifecta, (Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights), the team will return home and prep for a month long wait to return to action in early April…
The 2012 season is officially just…
February 17, 2012
The 2012 season is officially just more than a week old and CAP HENRY and Team CHR have survived their first five races by putting the race car back on the hauler each night in one piece. And that is huge considering they are running with nearly 40 of the best winged sprint car racers in the land each night!
The last week has seen several of the “World of Outlaws” teams complete their “pre-season testing” by inserting themselves into the “All Star Circuit of Champions” opening schedule. Tonight, everything changes as the Outlaws start racing for points and all of the on-track battles intensify another notch.
For “Cap and Company”, three nights running the “41st DIRTcar Nationals” at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida is on this weekend’s agenda. After making the “A” Main on Wednesday (19th place finish) and driving as hard as any in last night’s “B” Main where Cap spent most of the race moving forward and finally getting past CHAD KEMENAH on the final lap for 11th, the team feels really good about the start of 2012.
“With these guys, the difference of a half-second in qualifying puts you at the front or near the back….and being two tenths quicker, we would have been running UP FRONT in clean air in our heats”, said a determined Henry. “We have learned so much running with the Outlaw guys and if we had the budgets they do, I know we could run with ‘em!”
Running against the “big money” teams is tough for All Star regulars but the team is off to a much better start than last year, making “A” Mains for the first time at Screven (last week) and Volusia (Wednesday).
“Our Stanton MOPAR has done exactly what we have expected it to do so thanks to all of our crew here at the track and back home in the shops of our supporters”,said Team CHR Owner KIT HENRY. “We have a big week ahead with a three-night weekend starting to tonight and three more in a row beginning next Thursday…”
Following a few days off, the team moves to Ocala and Bubba Raceway Park for three nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 23rd – 25th. No theme park visits are planned at this time.
For the last six weeks…
February 12, 2012
For the last six weeks, CAP HENRY and Team CHR have been prepping for the 2012 season, working diligently on new equipment, a new paint scheme and a renewed attitude for his third year in the “All Star Circuit of Champions” winged-sprint car series.
Cap was the 2010 “Rookie-of-the-Year” for the All Stars and with a return trip to nearly every track on the 2012 schedule, he feels like the experience and knowledge will pay big dividends this year…
“I’m really excited to start the year fresh with everything being new”, he said as the team unpacked at Screven Motor Speedway for Thursday night practice and a Friday / Saturday night double-header. “The car looks good and we go back to a lot of tracks that I’ve seen before which makes me feel even better about this season…”
The series launches the 2012 season with two “$5,000 to win” A-Main’s on Friday and Saturday and then heads to Barberville, Florida for two nights at Volusia Speedway next Wednesday and Thursday. Following a week off, the team moves to Ocala and Bubba Raceway Park for three nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 23rd – 25th.
“We’ve safely arrived in Georgia for practice tonight and with a few adjustments, our Stanton MOPAR sounds healthy,” says Team Owner KIT HENRY. “A big thanks to all of you who make this possible for us to help Cap chase his dream!”
