Archerfield International Speedway Twin Features This Saturday Night
Bellevue, Ohio winged sprinter CAP HENRY brought one home for Team USA last Saturday night at“the Toowoomba Speedbowl”, in Toowoomba, Australia, due west of Brisbane. Returning to the Aussie dirt after a couple of years proved he CAN compete just about anywhere. Ask any racer and they always say, “Just give me more laps and we can do this…!”
Driving for team owner’s DAVE and JEN WHELL, Cap unpacked his gear and strapped in the ”USA 54 Toowoomba Car Wreckers” 410 winged sprint car and stood on it last Saturday night winning a heat for the team, qualifying 5th and starting from 5th in the “A” Main to finish 2nd.
“The track was pretty good…thanks to Dave & Jen Whell!” he tweeted while those of us in the U.S. arose to our Saturday morning sunrise (Toowoomba is 15 hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern Time Zone). Thanks to last weekend’s performance, Cap has been invited to stay for a couple of extra weeks and perhaps grab more seat time…
This weekend, the team rolls into “Archerfield International Speedway” located on the south side of Brisbane. It’s a big weekend with various classes and a loaded field for “Round 9 of the KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Series”; including newly crowned Australian Sprintcar champion DAVID MURCOTT.
” I struggled the last time I was here a few years ago but the car is ready for twin features which should make for a fun night! Some pretty good cars entered and we’re hoping for a decent run…”
